THANE: There are 27 unclaimed bodies lying in the mortuary of the state-run Civil Hospital here and more unclaimed bodies are brought in every day. With air conditioners in the room not functioning for the past five days, the air is already heavy with a foul smell. Staff and doctors dread to think of how they will grapple with the situation as further decay sets in. Some of the bodies have been there for nearly six months old.
